Spider-Gwen and Miles are Making Out All Over the Place

by Matt Kim
Marvel Comics

Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy of Spider-Gwen fame are both interdimensional transplants to the main Marvel continuity. Is that the reason the two superheroes are coming together to make out? Who knows, but they are all over each other in preview art.

Miles Morales is the new Spider-Man in town now that Peter Parker is busy running an international tech company and has Avengers-sized disasters to deal with. Meanwhile, Gwen Stacy is an alternate-dimension Spider-Woman popularly known as Spider-Gwen, who takes regular excursions to the main Marvel universe to have brunch with Jennifer Drew’s Spider-Woman and Silk — no really, that’s canon. However, starting in January, the two will be Marvel’s new spider-power couple, fighting crime and making out.

Starting with Spider-Man #12, Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy embark on the first chapter of “Sitting on a Tree,” a whirlwind romance story that will follow Miles and Gwen as they navigate the raging teenage hormones that led them to just going at each other’s faces.

Shouldn’t these superhero teens be stopping crime instead? Just asking …

Marvel is keeping the couple under wraps for now, choosing not to reveal how the two meet-cute. However, Marvel has revealed that the “Sitting in a Tree” mini-series will span across both heroes’ books, showing off adventures that will cross over between Miles and Gwen’s respective universes.

Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sarah Pichelli will tackle the event, previewing some of the gorgeous art that will be featured in the.

The purple color is particularly striking, though it’s a little confusing as to what hits Miles in the last page. Was it the metal bat the thug was holding? Was it love?

We won’t know until Spider-Man #12 hits comic book shelves on January 11, 2017.
