For the first time in a long while, a colored photo from Logan has appeared online. The photo appears to depict the grizzled Logan rescuing Laura from the flaming wreck of a car.
Logan is Fox’s upcoming finale to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine story, and after a fantastic, understated trailer, Logan has become one of the most anticipated superhero films in recent history. The new photo, the first in a while that isn’t a black-and-white teaser released on the film’s official Instagram account. It’s a bit livelier than the moody photos previously released. While the point in time at which this photo takes place is unclear, it’s easy to see what’s happening. Logan, probably just having rescued Laura from captors (judging by her handcuffs), is on the run after straight-up murdering some bad dudes. Maybe he blew up the truck too?

The handcuffs on Laura were briefly seen in the trailer, and are meant to not only bind her hands, but also her legs. This is probably because she’s X-23, and most definitely has blades coming out of her feet as well.
Logan for his part is appropriately bloodied, with his tank top in bloody tatters and the shadow of a corpse behind the two. Given the fact that both director James Mangold and Hugh Jackman have gone on record to explain that the tone of the film will be mature with a capital “M,” this scene feels particularly natural.
Hugh Jackman told the magazine that ultimately, the film is about Logan and not Wolverine, “It’s essential you see this as the story of a man who is struggling with mortality and legacy.” As a monument to the iconic character, Logan might be the perfect send-off for both Wolverine and Jackman.
