How to Listen to the Weeknd's New Album, 'Starboy'
Abél Makkonen Tesfaye's much-anticipated third studio album drops on November 25.
The Weeknd’s third studio album arrives on Friday, November 25. Starboy is the follow-up to the Weeknd’s 2015 mega hit, Beauty Behind the Madness, which earned the R&B artist two Grammy awards. Billboard reported Beauty Behind the Madness as the most streamed album of 2015. All-in-all: Starboy has a lot to live up to.
Starboy was announced on September 21, with the title track (featuring Daft Punk) dropping the next day to rave reviews. Since then, the Weeknd has released three other singles — “Party Monster,” “False Alarm,” and “I Feel It Coming (feat. Daft Punk)” and two music videos. One is a violent, Hardcore Henry-esque narrative for “False Alarm” and the “Starboy” video features a neon-pink cross and a panther.
The question here is: Where the hell can you get your electronic hands on this anticipated project?
Starboy is available for streaming on Spotify and purchase on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, and in stores.
Pre-orders have been available since the album’s announcement, so if you’re excited enough to want Starboy automatically downloaded onto your device when you wake up after Thanksgiving Day then that’s the way to go.
On Wednesday, November 23, the Weeknd premiered the chaotic, fluorescent short film, “M A N I A,” including a medley of the tracks “All I Know” feat. Future, “Party Monster,” “I Feel It Coming” feat. Daft Punk, and, possibly, “Sidewalk” feat. Kendrick Lamar and “Secrets.”
“M A N I A” continues the recent trend of artists taking on film projects for new albums, though the Weeknd’s deviates from the more narrative feel of some.
Be on the lookout for the Weeknd’s Starboy on Friday, November 25.
