The CW’s roster of DC Comics superheroes are teaming up for one giant four-part crossover event titled “Invasion!” tying together Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. But one unexpected return will be Willa Holland’s Thea, who is suiting up as her old vigilante identity Speedy for the first time in awhile, since she retired last season on Arrow.
In the Season 4 finale, Thea retired and hung up her Speedy gear she inherited from her ex-boyfriend, Roy Harper, aka Arsenal (Colton Haynes). She suited up again in the Season 5 premiere to rescue Oliver (Stephen Amell), but since then Thea has lived a normal life. Now, it seems the DC Universe will need all the help it can get against the alien invaders, the Dominators, forcing Thea back into action.
All four DC shows have revealed images of the crossover. Some have been seen before in recent weeks, while others are new, such as the photo below revealing Thea’s return as Speedy. In the photo, Speedy stands beside Spartan (David Ramsey), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), The Atom with a new suit (Brandon Routh), White Canary (Caity Lotz), Firestorm (Franz Drameh), and Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) in The Flash portion of the crossover.
Another photo, below, provides are more clear look at Nate Heywood’s (Nick Zeno) newly-unveiled Steel costume from Legends of Tomorrow.
The picture below, from Arrow, provides one of the most exciting reasons to see the crossover: H.R. (Tom Cavanagh) meeting Supergirl. You guys, this is HAPPENING.
In addition to the pictures, a new video provides an early peek at Supergirl first meeting the other heroes of the DC TV universe, proving to them why she has the moniker “Supergirl.”
“Invasion!”, part of a CW event titled “Heroes vs. Aliens” will begin on Supergirl on November 28.
