Marvel Connects 'Civil War' to 'Homecoming' in Spidey Comics
When the dust settled in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man’s real story began. A new prequel comic from Marvel, coming next summer, will bridge the gap between Spidey’s debut in Civil War and his first solo movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland, scheduled for July 7, 2017.
Revealed by a listing on Amazon UK, the comic will be released on paperback weeks before the theatrical release of Homecoming from director Jon Watts. The collection will collect the prelude’s two issues, apparently titled as simply Spider-Man: Homecoming Prelude.
The summary doesn’t reveal much about the comic’s plot, or whether or not it will explore Peter’s well-known (and well-tread) origin into becoming Spider-Man. But it does set up Spidey’s archetypical superhero life: “By day, young Peter Parker attends high school and lives with his Aunt May,” the summary reads, “By night, he fights crime with wall-crawling powers and web-swinging tech — and he’s destined to one day have an amazing, spectacular, sensational reputation as his neighborhood’s friendly hero!”
The Amazon listing doesn’t include any confirmed writers, artists, or even cover art, but it does list June 20, 2017 as the release date of the paperback collection. Its price is at £12.25, or $13.45 as of this writing.
Spider-Man: Homecoming releases on July 7, 2017.
