Two for one!

After a long summer of hot speculation, the unfortunate soul who met their end by Negan’s bat last season of The Walking Dead was revealed:

It was Abraham. Oh, and Glenn bit the dust, too.

Two of the most popular candidates put forth by speculating fans, Michael Cudlitz’s burly ex-soldier and Steven Yuen’s fan favorite met undignified ends, beaten and bloodied into a pool of their own juices. The revelation was shown a quarter of the way into the Season 7 premiere, “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be” on Sunday evening, which picked up where the Season 7 finale left off.

Glenn was Negan’s victim in the source graphic novel, while Abraham was often chosen in theories due to his status as a fan favorite and whose death would be devastating. But no fan could have predicted that Negan would be brutal enough to kill the two of them at once.

Abraham was the first to go, chosen by Negan after the most nerve-wracking game of eenie-meenie-miney-mo of all-time. It was his perspective that fans saw in the Season 6 finale. But after a few minutes of gloating, Negan went for a second kill out of nowhere, taking Glenn out too.

Glenn’s death was noteworthy for recreating issue #100 of The Walking Dead, down to Negan’s taunting and Glenn’s eye popping out, which was “gross as shit.”

Both characters were involved in the show’s most significant romances: Abraham with Rosita (Christian Serratos) and Glenn with Maggie (Lauren Cohan). Maggie’s current arc involves her pregnancy, highlighting the devastation of Glenn’s departure. Surely, no one can argue Negan didn’t make an impression in his grand debut. He really knocked it out of the park.
