Doctor Strange Confirmed, Again, for 'Avengers: Infinity War'
The next Avengers movie will have a Doctor in the house. Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige has confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will appear in Avengers: Infinity War, the penultimate chapter of Marvel’s Phase Three.
In a tweet from Peter Sciretta of Slashfilm, Kevin Feige confirms that after this November’s Doctor Strange, Strange will appear again in Infinity War. This is the latest on Cumberbatch himself saying it’s only a “logistical challenge” for the actors to get together for a single movie.
Given the significance of Stephen Strange and his role in introducing mysticism to the thus-far scientific Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s hardly a surprise that Strange wouldn’t participate in the battle against Thanos in Infinity War. The Guardians of the Galaxy will also appear as well, but the final word does help paint a picture of just how epic Infinity War is shaping up to be.
Still unknown are the status of the grittier Netflix and television heroes like the Defenders — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist — and characters from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. like Quake and Ghost Rider. Their involvement is arguably more curious given how rarely the TV side of the MCU gets involved with the big screen blockbusters.
Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4.
