'John Wick' Creator Already Has Ideas for a Third Movie
Winston and Charon are going to have big roles to play.
The sequel to the “fucking sweet” action flick John Wick doesn’t come out until February of next year, but the film’s creator already has ideas for John Wick 3, and two side characters are going to have big roles.
Director Chad Stahelski spoke to Collider’s Aubrey Page earlier this week, and while the bulk of their conversation centered around the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 2, Stahelski couldn’t help but reveal that he had some thoughts about Chapter 3.
“The studio has asked us to put our heads together and see if we can come up with something,” Stahelski said. “Winston’s is a big part of the next one, so is Lance Reddick. We’ve got some ideas.”
Winston, the imposing “management” of the Continental Hotel and Club, is played by venerable actor (and A+ Game of Thrones guest star) Ian “Tits and Dragons” McShane. Reddick plays Charon, a concierge at the hotel. But, of course, there’s much more to both characters than those hospitable titles would suggest. This is a series about assassins, after all.
Stahelski’s comments suggest that, with a focus on Winston and Charon, a third John Wick movie would expand the backstory of the noir-thriller in a big way, and get them off of the sidelines. McShane joked that “Winston is busy running the hotel!” during an appearance at New York Comic Con, so maybe Chapter 3 would give him some much-needed vacation.
That’s all in the future. We’ve got to get through John Wick: Chapter 2 first, which comes out on February 10.
So, uh, possible spoiler alert, we guess. Seems like Winston and Charon survive the sequel.
