Update: In a Facebook live interview with E! on October 7, Ben Affleck stated, “there is no Batman movie happening yet, we’re still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff.” He stressed that previous announcements calling the film The Batman were misquoting him, and misrepresenting his meaning.
The Ben Affleck’s standalone Batman movie is going to be called The Batman, Affleck told The Associated Press in an interview while promoting a movie called The Accountant, in a video that was posted to The YouTube on Monday, The 3rd of October.
“The movie I think is going to be called The Batman, yeah,” Affleck said. “At least that’s what we’re going with now. I might change it. I think that’s about it right now, that’s all I got.”
Yup! That’s all! Well, not quite, he went to let these nuggets tumble out:
“We’re working on a script; the script is going well, I’m really excited about it,” he said before dropping his voice to a lower register, although not as low as it might go while in character as The Batman, probably to convey his earnestness: “I assure you that when there’s anything that develops, you’ll hear about it.”
Affleck first played Batman in this summer’s three-hour-long hulking grunt, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It could have been bad editing, because the “ultimate edition” — with 30 more minutes! — was better.
Before The Affleck’s standalone The Batman, we’ll see him in The Justice League, which is scheduled to open on November 17, 2017. There’s a tactical suit involved.
If The Batman sounds familiar, know there was an animated series of the same name that ran for five seasons from 2004 to 2008.
