Sansa Might Marry Her Cousin, Jon Snow on 'Game of Thrones'
It’s not unusual for family members in Westeros to tie the knot, and Game of Thrones just might marry Sansa Stark to her cousin and adoptive brother, Jon Snow.
Since we now know that Jon’s real name is Jaehaerys Targaryen, as revealed by Season 6 of Game of Thrones and by HBO, things are getting complicated for him. And if he ends up marrying Sansa like YouTuber Alt Shift X suggests he might, things will only get more so.
Alt Shift X poses that who Sansa chooses to end up with might be determined by a prequel story — A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms — that George R.R. Martin wrote, which takes place 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The video outlines the social and political reasons for Sansa choosing to marry Jon. Those reasons essentially come down to Jon being a Targaryen and therefore eligible for the throne, and that Sansa’s past “love interests” treated her like shit (or were gay).
If Sansa’s storyline follows that of Lady Ashford’s from Martin’s prequel, then Sansa will marry either Jon or Aegon Targaryen. Now, we’ve been told that Aegon was killed when the Baratheons took power from the Targaryens, but in the books he’s secretly alive and has been raised by Varys to be the perfect king.
Maybe Game of Thrones will pull the biggest plot twist of all time and reveal that Aegon has been alive this whole time. After all, they’re bringing back Gendry next season after he fucked off in a boat for who knows how long (three seasons, not that we’ve been counting), so little-seen (or never-seen?) faces aren’t totally reaching for the GoT writers.
We’ll get more answers when Season 7 of Game of Throne premieres on HBO.
