Now that the Sokovia Accords have been signed following Captain America: Civil War, S.H.I.E.L.D. is ready to go legit again. Phil Coulson, who is legally dead, can’t return to his position as Director, so a new face has been brought in to lead the agency. In a new clip, Coulson and Melinda May meet the new boss, and it’s their worst nightmare: someone unbearably earnest and polite.
The new boss in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t have a name yet (at least one that we know), but it’s actor Jason O’Mara, the voice of Batman in Young Justice and other DC cartoons. During the clip, O’Mara’s character comes off like the boss who makes employees do trust falls and foot massages in the hot tub at the company retreat. He’s not so much creepy as he is off-putting, which will certainly lead to character clashing between him and the more experienced, straightforward Coulson and the intensely calculating Melinda May.
Speaking of May, her brush with a soul from Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider continues to haunt her, literally, as she keeps seeing ghastly hallucinations. She sees another terrifying face in none other than the new Director. That’s totally an omen for something, and it’s not going to be good.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays.
