Wilson Fisk — inarguably one of the best things to come out of MCU’s Netflix takeover — might be making another appearance in the near future. We’re not sure if Kingpin will be in Season 3 of Daredevil or the crossover extravaganza The Defenders, but either way it’s going to be fantastic.
Vincent D’Onofrio, who played Fisk on the first two seasons of Daredevil, recently said that he can neither confirm nor deny Fisk’s return. This, of course, means Fisk will be back and more bone-chilling than ever, though D’Onofrio says he never sold his soul to the Marvel cause like most actors do. “When Jeff [Loeb] tells me there’s something coming up and if I’m available, I’ll be there,” he said. “I’m going to do everything I can because the writing is so good.”
Kingpin had a fantastic final scene in Daredevil, enabling Frank Castle — aka Punisher — to escape prison in a bloody scene worthy of Tarantino, potentially hinting at Kingpin’s return in future episodes. “Next time I see you…”
In Marvel’s comics, Kingpin has a regular presence, being the archenemy of Daredevil and a common pop-up in Punisher’s world. It would only make sense for the minds behind Marvel’s television shows to keep bringing him back. There’s a lot of great content out there to choose from, including the death of Fisk’s beloved and his subsequent revenge plot.
Filming for The Defenders, starring Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and possibly Kingpin, is slated to start begin later this year.
