This Deleted Scene Would Have Made 'Arrow' Season 4 so Much Better

While Season 4 of Arrow won’t rank among most fans’ favorites, there were a handful of good ideas that didn’t develop properly over the 23 episodes. Taiana (Elysia Rotaru), a character straight from the Green Arrow comics from DC, at last appeared in Arrow as a prisoner on Lian Yu reluctantly helping Oliver (Stephen Amell) on his undercover mission for A.R.G.U.S.

In a deleted scene released by Warner Bros. to mark the release of the Season 4 Blu-ray, Oliver tends to Taiana after she fell ill in “Beyond Redemption” which I thought was a legitimate high point in the season. (It aired just before the Constantine crossover “Haunted,” also another high point in the season.)

You can see why the scene was cut. Nothing is revealed, except for maybe Oliver hinting he’s working undercover with A.R.G.U.S., though he never explicitly says it. Taiana also tells Ollie how she got involved with these warlords running a powerful slave and drug operation. Still, tiny moments like these probably could have helped Arrow tell a more fulfilling story – since the characters sort of felt like they couldn’t breathe in between important expositional dialogues last season.

Arrow returns for Season 5 on October 5.
