Barry may have messed up the timeline, but he’s still got his speed power. The CW’s new promotional images for the Season 3 premiere of The Flash, show Barry Allen coming face to face with Wally West in full costume — Flash meets Kid Flash.
In the season premiere, titled “Flashpoint” and airing October 4, Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) simply goes by Flash, but we’re pretty sure Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) will resume that mantle soon.
At the end of Season 2 of The Flash, Barry went back in time to stop the murder of his mother, Nora Allen. Nora’s death put Barry onto the path of becoming a superhero, but with Barry rewriting history, what happens to the show’s reality? Does Barry lose his speed? Apparently not, and these new photos serve as proof.
There’s not yet a solid explanation for how the pieces fall into place in “Flashpoint,” but there’s a lot going on in these new photos released by the CW. Between Barry’s parents having a more prominent role, Barry and Iris (Candace Patton) finding their chemistry together, and Wally in his stunning Kid Flash outfit, The Flash can’t get here fast enough.
For those unfamiliar, “Flashpoint” will be loosely — and I mean, really loosely — based on Geoff Johns’s 2011 comic Flashpoint, which rebooted the DC Comics continuity from the ground up. The damage done by Flashpoint is slowly being undone with DC’s ongoing Rebirth, also chiefly penned by Johns.
The DC TV universe won’t have a Flashpoint as comprehensive as the comics (in the books, Thomas Wayne as Batman helps Barry restore the timelines), but it’s certainly a bold step towards a new status quo. Check out the photos below.
Barry and Wally team up as two speedsters.
Will Wally be a friend or foe?
The real Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse-Flash) played by Matt Letscher returns in Season 3 as a very prominent antagonist, but he’s not the only one in town.
John Wesley Shipp and Michelle Harrison return as Henry and Nora Allen, alive and well, to the happiness of Barry. It’ll be temporary, though: Flashpoint can’t last forever.
When Barry rewrote history, he lost his with the girl of his dreams, Iris (Candace Patton). The producers confirmed that Barry and Iris are destined for each other and will eventually find one another, but it’s going to take time.
The Flash returns on October 4 on the CW.
