When it comes to cosplay, sure, you can make something painstakingly accurate. That’s cute. But when it comes fun, why not actually have some fun? Back in 2014 at the New York Comic-Con, a Connecticut cosplayer had some damn fun with his mash-up costume of Marvel’s God of Thunder with McDonald’s Jester of Cholesterol, Ronald McDonald, and it became a minor viral hit on Reddit and elsewhere on the internet. Now, the meme lives on in Thor: Ragnarok as an Easter egg.
In a candid photo taken on the set of Thor: Ragnarok, co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are seen sitting down looking mighty annoyed in front of a newspaper stand. (It’s worth pointing out the American flags next to Hemsworth; production is in Brisbane, but the city might be a stand-in for Any Harbor Town, USA). The fake headlines speculate Thor’s return — he hasn’t been seen since the events of 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, remember — but one brave publication, The Colonial Post, has spotted Thor in the wild. Or, it’s a Thor, rather.
Just zoom in a little closer, and…
Lesson learned, kids. If you want your cosplay to be in a multi-million dollar superhero movie released worldwide by a major studio, just have fun. No one cares if you look like Chris Hemsworth if you can make people laugh instead.
Thor: Ragnarok releases November 3, 2017.
