Here’s How to Listen to Frank Ocean’s New Visual Album ‘Endless'
Frank Ocean started livestreaming again, and this time, he released a 45-minute “visual album” called Endless.
On August 1 at around 3 a.m., live stream footage shot in negative lighting suddenly began streaming on boysdontcry.co, the URL domain name for Boys Don’t Cry, the upcoming second studio album by rapper and songwriter Frank Ocean. Ocean was supposed to release the album on August 1, but the date came and went with no new music. Late Thursday night, more than two weeks later, he finally followed through.
Ocean, who previously worked as a ghostwriter for artists including John Legend and Justin Bieber, found critical acclaim with his breakout mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra in 2011, and fans have been waiting since 2013 for his new album. In the video sponsored by Apple Music, Ocean appeared to be woodworking in what was believed to be a Brooklyn warehouse, sporadically playing instrumental music on loop.
The feed started up again as of earlier this evening, with Ocean building what appears to be a staircase made out of wooden boxes in the same warehouse. New music has also appeared in the background, this time with vocals by Ocean. Was it just an elaborate prank or social experiment? Was Frank Ocean auditioning for a new television show on HGTV?
Looks like the live video stream was a prelude, not to the long-awaited album itself, but to the new video, Endless. Check out the full album playlist below and stay tuned for more developments — or impromptu releases — from Frank Ocean.
