People Love This New 'Wonder Woman' Movie Poster from SDCC
For Themyscira!
Arguably the best part of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from Zack Snyder was the cinematic debut of Wonder Woman, played by Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6 actress Gal Gadot. Her appearance saving Batman’s ass from Doomsday was the only fist-pumping moment in the film, but soon Gadot will headline her own solo flick in 2017’s Wonder Woman from Patty Jenkins, director of the acclaimed crime drama Monster starring Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci.
Like her Dawn of Justice scene, a new poster for Wonder Woman out of San Diego Comic-Con is just as uplifting, exciting, and appropriately epic for a fabled demigod from a powerful faraway land. It’s curious as to why Wonder Woman is obscured — she’s already made her debut, so why the tease? — but her costume is much sharper and colorful than the desaturated look in Dawn of Justice.
And Twitter is delighted. Gadot shared the image on Friday afternoon, and as of this writing, it’s been retweeted over 6,000 times. Gadot and Jenkins will be guests at a panel celebrating 75 years of DC’s iconic feminist superhero this Saturday.
And Twitter is all about it, enthusiastically squealing ample emojis and GIFs.
Warner Bros. releases Wonder Woman on June 2, 2017.
