Rapper Lil Wayne Hospitalized After Two Seizures, Mack Maine Confirms Stable Condition
Lil Wayne's plane made an emergency landing after the rapper suffered from two seizures in a row on his way to California.
Lil Wayne was rushed to the hospital after his plane emergency-landed on Monday afternoon, following the rapper’s two seizures. In the past, he has been open about his epilepsy and history with seizures.
Lil Wayne was on a cross-country flight from Milwaukee to Los Angeles when he suffered the first seizure, just before 1:30 p.m. — his pilot landed shortly after, and paramedics arrived on the scene to treat the rapper. Unfortunately, according to TMZ, Lil Wayne refused help and boarded his jet to take off shortly after. Minutes later, the rapper suffered a second seizure, prompting his pilot to land the plane once more in Omaha, Nebraska. By 2:30 p.m. PST, Lil Wayne was rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
The rapper was on his way to Los Angeles for a presentation at E3, where he was set to promote his new game, Sqvad Up, a mobile title made in collaboration with Samsung. The game is out now.
Epilepsy is the 4th most common neurological disorder, and it affects people of all ages. Over the course of their lives, 1 in every 26 Americans will be affected by the chronic disorder, which is best known for causing recurrent, unprovoked seizures. The internet has zeroed-in on Lil Wayne’s drinking as the cause; he openly quit drinking a few years back, because alcohol can reduce the amount of some epilepsy medicines in a person’s system, and can increase the possible negative side-effects. Seizures tend to come unpredictably, though — so any official “reasoning” might be a little hazy for anyone that isn’t, perhaps, a doctor.
