John Boyega Will Star in 'Pacific Rim 2,' Can Oscar Isaac be His Copilot?
If #Stormpilot doesn't happen in the next 'Star Wars,' then maybe it can happen in 'Pacific Rim 2?'
Today, news broke that John Boyega — now world- famous for his role as Finn in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens — will star in the totally unanticipated sequel to Pacific Rim. In case you missed it, Pacific Rim was a 2013 movie that was somehow not a sequel to anything and featured humans piloting giant robots called “Jaegers” fighting off a never-ending invasion of giant kaiju monsters from space.
The thing is, in order to fly a Jaeger you need a co-pilot whom you can link-up with telepathically. John Boyega is playing the son of the character Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba) but who will play his co-pilot?
Since John Boyega has already been a copilot with Oscar Isaac in The Force Awakens and fans are clamoring to see those two onscreen again — à la the shipping phenom stormpilot — it seems an announcement regarding Oscar Issac in Pacific Rim 2 is not only imminent, but necessary.
Pacific Rim: Maelstrom is scheduled to open in August 2017.
