The First 'Star Wars: Rogue One' Teaser Shows Menacing All-Black Stormtroopers
The first full trailer comes out tomorrow during Good Morning America.
We have our first look at the future of the Star Wars franchise’s standalone titles tomorrow morning, and it’s plenty dark and menacing. A ten-second teaser for Star Wars: Rogue One came out today, giving fans the first taste of a full trailer that comes out during Good Morning America tomorrow morning.
The teaser doesn’t have much more than some BRAAAHHHM sound effects, but we do get a glossy shot of a new, fearsome-looking black stormtrooper standing in front of a burning building. Rogue One has been marketed as a grittier, less-Jedi-intensive side of the Star Wars universe, following a group of pilots and mercenaries (with real military extras) as they attempt to steal the plans for the original Death Star before the events of Episode IV: A New Hope. Like The Force Awakens, the film will focus on practical effects, and the short clip we have seems clear and CGI-free, which bodes well for the living, breathing world of the Star Wars universe we know.
Rogue One is still set to debut on December 16, 2016, so we’re less than a year away. It’ll be followed by standalone films about Han Solo and Episode 8 in 2017.
Check out the teaser below, and get stoked for the full trailer tomorrow.
