International 'Batman v Superman' Trailer Hypes the Movie Fight of the Year

'Dawn of Justice' isn't just the start of the Justice League, it's also the biggest superhero showdown ever.

Not long ago when the first details of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice were revealed, director Zack Snyder explained why the title has only one “v” instead of the usual “vs.” (e.g. Freddy vs. Jason). He told USA Today it was to distinguish his superhero movie from “being a straight ‘versus’ movie, even in the most subtle way.”

In hindsight, it was a mistake. A new South Korean trailer for Dawn of Justice, opening March 25, hypes up the real reason anyone would pay to see a movie titled Batman v Superman: to see Batman VERSUS Superman. The new international trailer almost feels like a WWE ad for a Sunday night pay per view, which really should have been the marketing strategy for Snyder’s film all along.

Despite its short length, the trailer is loaded with new scenes and images never seen before — particularly with Ben Affleck’s Batman. Batman goes full Arkham Knight on Gotham’s criminals, similar to the final trailer. But, here, there’s more to witness in his fight against Superman. If Snyder directed their fight in any way that’s good and visually rich — and I have faith in him — then Batman’s first block from Superman will be a moment that may live in comic book eternity. Let’s just hope the movie doesn’t drag for as long.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice releases everywhere on March 25.
