6. Riddick

The most recent entry in Vin Diesel’s Riddick-ulous (sorry) sci-fi series, Riddick is a no-frills adventure that’s basically made to be enjoyed while half-focused on something else.

5. Antlers

Antlers feels destined to become a cult classic for those who vibe with its slow pace and stomach-turning effects. This allegorical horror movie follows a teacher’s investigation of a student hiding a shocking secret.

4. Monsters

From Rogue One director Gareth Edwards, Monsters takes place six years after an alien invasion. Despite its title, Monsters keeps its focus on the relationship between its two human protagonists.

3. Free Guy

Ryan Reynolds stars as a self-aware video game NPC who wants to make his virtual world a nicer place in the better-than-expected Free Guy. While its plot gets a bit convoluted, it’s got a good enough heart to recommend it anyway.

2. Peacemaker

Peacemaker is part workplace comedy, part superhero satire. Led by the charismatic John Cena playing the deeply unlikeable Peacemaker, the show revels in violence and irreverent humor.

1. Raised By Wolves season 2

Full of weighty ideas and stunning visuals, Raised by Wolves is an instant sci-fi classic. It chronicles a colony of humans raised by androids in another world after a religious war tore Earth apart.
