Lamborghini has brought some more excitement to the world of hybrid EVs with its Revuelto supercar. The renowned Italian carmaker debuted its hybrid supercar in New York City recently, just before the New York International Auto Show.

For the Revuelto, Lamborghini combined a naturally-aspirated V12 engine with three electric motors that are powered by a massive 4,500W/kg battery pack. Lamborghini says the battery pack can be fully charged in 30 minutes.

That means the Revuelto can go from 0 to 100 km/h, or 0 to 62 mph, in 2.5 seconds. The hybrid supercar hits a top speed of more than 350 km/h, or around 217 mph.

The Revuelto is also the first time that Lamborghini put an eight-speed double-clutch gearbox in a 12-cylinder model, for all you Lambo nerds out there.

Covered in carbon fiber

Lamborghini says carbon fiber is the main ingredient when it comes to the Revuelto’s frame and bodywork, making for an impressive weight-to-power ratio of 1.75 kg/CV.

Hybrid EV supercars may be a rather narrow field, but there are some similar concepts that are fully electric. Tesla has been steadily working on an updated Roadster model, while Rimac just shattered a recent speed record for production-ready EVs.

Lamborghini

Lamborghini is trying to electrify its supercar offerings. With the Revuelto, you can think of it as a bridge between two worlds — one where V12 engines are hailed for their gas-guzzling performance and another where people want to see more high-performance EVs.
