The Apollo Pro can take off from 0 to 30 mph in 2.9 second thanks to a dual-motor drive.

Electric scooters are great for getting around a city. You don’t have to deal with the headache of traffic or parking and you get the bonus of a lower carbon footprint for your commute. But, some of them can be a little slow.

Need for speed

However, the Canadian e-scooter maker Apollo isn’t interested in making another slow e-scooter. Instead, the company wants something that could keep up with cars. That’s how we get to the Apollo Pro, which Apollo calls its first “hyper scooter.”

We don’t think there’s any official threshold for what qualifies as “hyper” in the e-scooter world. Still, the Apollo Pro is undoubtedly one of the fastest e-scooters out there with a top speed of 43 mph. You’re definitely going to want a helmet for this.

It’s powered by a dual-motor drive and Apollo’s proprietary Mach 1 controller that gives it that wild top speed, along with a 0 to 30 mph in 2.9 seconds.

The Apollo Pro will also have a regenerative braking system that recharges the battery up to 10 percent when you brake. Speaking of battery, the e-scooter will get up to 62 miles of range.

The Apollo Pro will be built with 12-inch self-healing tires, a unibody frame that can support up to 330 lbs, and 360-degree lighting so you’ll always be seen in the street.

Weirdly enough, Apollo designed the e-scooter to use your smartphone and the Apollo app as the display. Luckily, the e-scooter wirelessly charges your phone while it’s mounted as the display.

Apollo is really leaning into making this feel like a vehicle with built-in smart features like theft deterrence, fall detection, and even collision warnings.

You can also opt to pay for the Apollo Care program that offers extended warranty and theft protection services.

Apollo is planning to deliver the first Apollo Pro e-scooters in the first quarter of 2023. They’re only being sold in North America right now, with a starting price tag of $3,599. That’s definitely a bit pricey, but this is a “hyper scooter” after all.
