Nike’s Strawberry Cough sneakers were originally slated to drop in 2020, as part of its 4/20 lineup, but they were unexpectedly removed from the release calendar.
Rumor has it the delay had to do with the coughing theme of the shoe, given that we were just at the beginning of the pandemic at the time and Nike didn’t want to come off as tone deaf.
Thankfully for those of us who had been patiently waiting for the Straberry Coughs, Nike SB finally dropped them this past October for $110. And while they sold out in seconds, the resale market isn’t too bad right now, with prices starting at $245 depending on what size you need.
So, were they worth the wait? Absolutely, because not only are the Strawberry Coughs one of the weirdest Nike SB Dunks ever, but they’re also one of the best ever. The details, from the eye-popping colors to the furry materials, are just amazing and make these a must-have pair for any sneakerhead.
The best part about it, now that they’re officially out, is you don’t have to pay around $10,000 for the Strawberry Cough SB Dunks — which is how much they were reselling for when there were rumors Nike was planning to fully cancel their launch. Phew, glad that didn’t happen.
