Last month, auction house Sotheby’s announced it had teamed up with Nike and Louis Vuitton to auction 200 exclusive pairs of their Air Force 1 collaboration, designed by the late designer Virgil Abloh. And as were his wishes, all proceeds will go to his “Post Modern” Scholarship Fund, which helps up-and-coming designers across different industries.
As if the luxurious sneakers alone weren’t enough, Nike and Louis Vuitton also made this incredible “Pilot Case” to house their Air Force 1 collaboration — which dons Abloh’s signature DIY aesthetic, including a white leather Nike Swoosh travel tag.
The orange Nike x Louis Vuitton Pilot Case will be limited to the 200 AF1 pairs Sotheby’s is auctioning — meaning it won’t come with the other colors of the shoe that Nike and LV are expected to drop in the future.
While the pair we saw is a size 9, which has a highest bid of $38,000 for now, one size 11 is already at $80,000. Sotheby’s auction closes on February 8, so there’s still time for you to spend a car’s worth of money on these — only if you want to.
