EarthGang’s Atlanta sound will build you up, brick by brick

EarthGang has been sending out its own special blend of sonic waves since the hip-hop duo was in tenth grade together — though their shared affinity for innovative, overlapping genres began even earlier. Growing up in Atlanta, WowGr8 (aka Doctur Dot, née Eian Undrai Parker) and Olu (née Olu O. Fann) were surrounded by a community of musical artists. Hangouts at a friend’s studio evolved into local shows on the indie circuit, and “the synergy started from there,” says Olu. Once graduation came, “We thought, ‘Let's actually give it a shot.’” With a fresh Grammy nomination under their belt (best R&B song for “Collide” with Tiana Major9) and a new EarthGang album on the way, that shot has reached otherworldly levels.

“When you listen to us, you're always pulled in different directions. You get energy over and over again — just a blast of energy. That's what our sound is like.”
