Unhinged ‘weight-loss’ device basically just seals your mouth shut

Research conducted at higher education institutions have provided breakthroughs across all industries over the years. DentalSlim, a new intra-oral device that suppresses your ability to open your mouth, is not one of them.

DentalSlim was developed by a team of researchers at the University of Otago in New Zealand, led by Professor Paul Brunton. University of Otago

DentalSlim is fitted to the patient’s upper and lower back teeth thereby limiting the use of their jaw. The device involves a combination of magnetic pieces with custom-manufactured locking bolts, allowing wearers to open their mouths at a maximum of 2 mm, which is less than an inch. The most interesting aspect of DentalSlim is that its creators legitimately believe it is something that is both practical and helpful to the world at large. A dedicated university research team deduced that the biggest hurdle to people trying to lose weight is autonomy over their mouths. It is a tough scene for higher education right now.
