It’s about time we got more creative with PC chassis design. If you look at the market now, there’s plenty of plain black rectangular cases that all promote maximum airflow and customizable LEDs. But where’s the fun in that?
We should instead be taking a page from Cooler Master’s book, which just revealed the Sneaker X and Shark X custom-built PCs.
“We’re really trying to break the boundaries of this traditional PC form factor,” Maurice Liu, Cooler Master’s business development manager, said during the Chronos Summit stream on Twitch.
He added that Cooler Master will be building these in a way where you can swap out parts and upgrade them easily.
If you’re not into sneakers, Cooler Master is also offering a shark-shaped version. The Shark X custom PC comes from the winner of its Case Mod World Series in 2019, where it became a viral sensation. The impressive case features RGB lighting from head to tail, all wrapped up in an intimidating mecha-shark design.
It’s a nice change of pace to see hardware companies try some more creative designs for its cases. These two new designs from Cooler Master are sure to draw some eyes to the brand, but others have also put out some cool concepts lately. Last month, EVGA revealed its no-case chassis design and CyberPowerPC designed a case that looks like it breathes through its front panel.
