The Kia EV6 is an electric spaceship for the road — Look

It looks like something out of a sci-fi flick

by Jordan Golson

The Kia EV6 is a 300+ mile electric car built on the same platform as Hyundai’s IONIQ...

...albeit with a very different design ethos both inside and out.

Kia’s quirky sense of interior design is on full display in the EV6, with mood lighting and a floating center console that’ll make you feel like you’re on the bridge of the USS Enterprise.

Controls for the radio volume and the gear knob are on the floating center console, along with some cupholders and a Qi wireless phone charger.

The door handles retract flush with the door to improve aerodynamic efficiency but pop out when the car is unlocked to make them easier to grab.

The rear seats are spacious, too, thanks to a flat floor and front seats notably thinner than in a standard car.

The rear charge port is hidden within the right taillight behind this big door. We weren’t allowed to open it, though it supports both Level 2 and DC Fast Charging.

Despite not having an engine, the EV6 dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant doesn’t have much of a front trunk. Its storage compartment can hold the charge cables and not much else.
