Elon Musk aims to establish a settlement on Mars by 2050. From there, astronauts can travel to Earth, or even further out in the solar system.
But this all depends on harnessing Mars’s resource to create fuel — we can’t bring it all from Earth.
Musk plans to use liquid oxygen and methane to fuel the future Starship rockets that would shuttle crews to and from Mars.
Air Company, a New York-based technology company, is currently working on making rocket fuel out of carbon dioxide on Earth.
