Unlike the Batmobile, the McMurtry Spéirling will eventually make it to market.

Poor conditions be damned, the McMurtry Spéirling hypercar is here to break records. The British automaker’s signature EV just hit 0 to 60 mph in 1.4 seconds and did a quarter mile in 7.97 seconds.

The kicker is that the Spéirling did it on a damp day on England’s Silverstone circuit.

The McMurtry Spéirling hit those impressive times in a YouTube video with Carwow, earning a spot as the fastest-accelerating car the channel has ever tested.

McMurtry

The Spéirling comes from the recently-formed British automaker, McMurtry, which got its start in 2016.

The EV hypercar earned a lot of attention for its Batmobile-esque design but also for breaking records at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

We got the first real look at the Spéirling at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where McMurtry said that its electric hypercar would aim to beat several records.

The Spéirling is already on the way to beating record-setting times after some unofficial times done with the Carwow YouTube channel in less-than-ideal conditions.

Extra downforce

The Spéirling has one distinct advantage though, its downforce-on-demand fan system that generates an extra 2,000 kilograms of downforce for improved grip.

You can see just how much that extra downforce makes a difference when compared to an Audi S8 in Carwow’s video.

We don’t have exact specs for the Spéirling yet, but McMurtry is already taking preorders for its electric hypercar that will, surprisingly, be road legal.
