Maserati is ramping up the conversion of its vehicle lineup into electric beasts. The Italian luxury automaker revealed the GranTurismo Folgore, marking the second EV announced for Maserati after the Grecale Folgore.

While many automakers have been making economical EVs with long ranges, Maserati is going against the grain. Instead, the Italian brand focused on a performance-first model wrapped in its recognizable Maserati styling.

Lightning fast

Maserati designed the GranTurismo Folgore with three 300kW motors that deliver 760 horsepower to its four wheels. That means the electric coupe can hit 0 to 60 mph in less than 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph.

The GranTurismo Folgore has a somewhat limited range of around 280 miles with its 92.5 kWh battery pack. It’ll only take about 18 minutes to charge from 20 to 80 percent with DC fast charging up to 300 kW. You can also do AC charging up to 22 kW.

Maserati didn’t offer any peeks into the GranTurismo Folgore’s interiors, but we can expect it to share some elements with the Grecale Folgore that was teased earlier this year.

Europe first

The GranTurismo Folgore is expected to be Maserati’s first EV to make it to market, releasing in the E.U. in July 2023, and the U.K. and the U.S. in September 2023.
