In Tails of Iron, you play as Redgi, heir to the rat throne, in a tale of bloody revenge after the Frog Clan assassinates King Rattus and lays waste to your family’s empire.

Set in a grimdark medieval land plagued by war, Tails of Iron is equal parts The Punisher, Bloodborne, Redwall, and Dishonored, with a compelling story enhanced by a vibrant art style — and cute creatures.

Cute ... but brutal.

Inverse previewed the game’s opening hour in a demo while speaking with Jack Bennett, co-founder of developer Odd Bug Studio.

Bennett also revealed that each individual object is drawn and placed at a different depth in the environment, giving it a unique parallax effect where every object shifts.

Killing Greenwart, leader of the Frog Clan, is your ultimate goal. Only then will your kingdom be safe.

Any gamers who love intense, visceral, and challenging combat will find a lot to enjoy, but it’s not for the faint of heart.

If you love dark fantasy and cute anthropomorphized animals, then Tails of Iron is a must-play.

Narration by Doug Cockle — the voice behind The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia — makes Tails of Iron feel like a gripping fairytale nightmare.
