Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has one of the most extensive rosters in the fighting game genre. Nintendo added Min Min from its cartoony boxing series ARMS in June, making for 76 playable characters.
The Fire Emblem protagonist is considered to be one of the most well-rounded fighters in Smash Ultimate. The number-one ranked player Leonardo "MKLeo" López Pérez said, "[She's] everything you want in a character, [but] she's the worst of the best."
This mechanical menace has one of the most diverse movesets in the game. Adam “Armada” Lindgren, one of the best Melee players of all-time said, “[He’s got] great zoning, a lot of amazing projectiles. His recovery is almost 'un-edge-guardable' by most characters.”
She was one of the best characters in Smash 4 and that hasn’t changed in Ultimate. Her Down Special basically gives her a third jump, which pro player Enrique “Maister” Hernández Solís says is a get-out-of-jail-free card whenever she's at a disadvantage.
This fighter is three characters in one. That led William “Leffen” Hjelte, a top-ranking Melee player, to call Pokémon Trainer one of the best and most diverse fighter. The only drawback is that pros need to master three distinct fighters to achieve reach their full potential.
Mario’s evil counterpart has one of the best kill moves in the game, Waft, which is a deadly fart that charges over time. Pro player Eric “ESAM” Lew thinks highly of the character and claims that the mere threat of Waft makes Wario's opponents play into his hands.
The green-haired goddess is another jack of all trades and master of none, but she has such a well-rounded kit that when played optimally, she becomes an unstoppable force. Pro player Samuel “Dabuz” Buzby said, “Her good moves are so good, it doesn’t even matter what her bad moves are.”
Solid Snake has a destructive arsenal of explosives that he can use to overwhelm his opponents when mastered. Notably, his Side Special obliterates any fighter with a weak recovery. Armada said it is “arguably the best edge-guarding tool in the game.”
The princess has the unique ability to float mid-air, which allows her to throw out her quick and powerful aerials inches from the ground. This lets her chain together combos that can rack up to 70 to 90 percent off of one hit, which ESAM called “stupid good.”
When mastered, this Pokémon is the best character in Smash Ultimate. While Pikachu can be KO'd early if he gets hit by a big move, his size and speed make him almost untouchable. Dabuz put it best, “His kit is overloaded ... this character is everything you want. Frame data, speed, great projectile, combo ability, kill setups, edge-guarding.”
