PS Plus has to put a lot of work in to convince gamers it’s worth as much as Xbox Game Pass. Its new games for September make a strong case, with an eclectic mix of excellent games.
Another excellent fighting game from the developer of Guilty Gear Strive, Granblue Fantasy: Versus lets you battle it out as characters from the Granblue Fantasy RPG, and it’s pretty newcomer-friendly, as far as fighters go.
This quirky photography game won a BAFTA in 2022, and it absolutely deserved it. Toem embodies the joy of photography, challenging you to snap specific images across its lovely isometric environments.

Bethesda’s last PS5 exclusive after its acquisition by Microsoft was the time-loop first-person shooter Deathloop. It uses a Dark Souls-like antagonistic multiplayer mode to spice up your attempt to assassinate eight targets in one day.

One of the best games in the long-running series, Assassin’s Creed Origins has an excellent story and characters in an engaging version of Egypt. Its combat lacks a little in comparison to Odyssey and Valhalla, but it’s still a must-play.

The Watch Dogs series is wildly uneven, but Watch Dogs 2 is the best it’s ever been. It can be played mostly as a stealth game, and its story and protagonist are genuinely captivating.
