The first seasonal event in the sequel era doesn’t feel like much of a treat.
Just a few weeks after launch, Overwatch 2 is holding its first seasonal event — Halloween Terror. As in years past, the spooky event brings a new game mode and cosmetic rewards.
When Overwatch 2 was announced, Blizzard promised more focus on PvE. Halloween Terror will give players their first look at new PvE content, with the Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride limited time mode.
The original Junkenstein’s Revenge is also back from the dead for this year’s Halloween Terror, so players who missed the fun Overwatch horde mode will be able to relive it.
Halloween skins from years past will be returning, so you can snag Shin-Ryeong D.Va, Warlock Ashe, and more if you missed them the first time.

Halloween Terror’s headline skins will be added to the Overwatch 2 shop this year, along with the returning skins.

More seasonal events are always welcome in Overwatch, but the monetization of Halloween Terror 2022 is stirring up yet another controversy for Overwatch 2.

Players on Reddit and Twitter are not in a festive mood, with some even saying they’d rather have Overwatch’s loot boxes than the sequel’s cash shop approach.
