The footage is good news for folks who haven’t been able to snag a PS5 yet. The last-gen console is more than up to the task of running Horizon Forbidden West, just with a little less pizzazz.
Horizon Forbidden West’s distinctive character and environment art still look great on PS4 Pro.
Draw distance on PS4 will likely be lower than on PS5, but this view of the foggy horizon is still plenty impressive.
Elemental attacks were a huge part of Horizon Zero Dawn’s combat. The fire effects in Horizon Forbidden West are a major step up, even on PS4 Pro.
The particle effects from ice attacks likewise got an upgrade. This clip also gives a great up-close look at some of Aloy’s combat animations.
Horizon Forbidden West’s combat looks better all around, thanks in part to some dynamic new enemy animations.
