Nintendo showed off Harvestella, Square Enix’s upcoming life sim at its August 2022 Treehouse Live. It featured live gameplay with some exciting new details about the game.

The show started with a look at farming, which is a way to both make money and cook food that will help you on expeditions.

Excitingly for anyone who’s played farming games, planting and watering crops looks like an absolute breeze. You can even walk while you’re watering!

Square Enix

The food you make or find will fill a hunger meter, letting you regenerate stamina lost in battles.

Square Enix

Run out of stamina or stay out too late, and you’ll collapse, just like in Stardew Valley. The stream suggests your bedtime is 9 p.m., which I guess makes sense when you’re fighting monsters all day, but come on.

Managing your time is a big part of Harvestella. Even the environment changes based on time of day and season.

Square Enix

To help keep your schedule, you can repair ladders found in adventuring areas and use them as shortcuts the next time you’re out hunting.

Square Enix

You can also teleport around the map and back home using special landmarks and craftable items.

Saving time where you can is important, because activities like fishing can quickly run out the clock.

In between fishing trips, you can battle all kinds of monsters. They drop materials you’ll need back home, which you can also find on the trail.

Careful: Eating a stray roadside mushroom might actually hurt you!

NPCs can accompany you on your journey, and even fight alongside you. Sadly, it’s still not confirmed if you can smooch them.

One thing you can definitely do is learn new classes from your friends. We see how the Mage class is acquired in the stream.

Square Enix

Turns out you sometimes need to beat up on your friends a little to get them to spill their secrets.

With the Mage, you can sling spells at range as you might expect. That’s important, because some enemies are resistant or maybe even invulnerable to certain damage types.

Just as important, the Mage has a very cute robe.

Obviously there’s still a lot we don’t know about Harvestella (I can’t stress enough how much we need answers on smooching). It launches November 4 on Switch and PC — plenty of time for more reveals!
