On September 9, PlayStation finally shared footage — and confirmed the official title — of God of War: Ragnarok.

Here are eight jaw-dropping images from Sony’s end-of-summer reveal event.

Kratos sits near a fire, clearly troubled by his thoughts.

The environments in Ragnarok seem to have more activity than in the previous game, as seen when father and son enter a lively town.

How’s this for fast travel? Beats hoofing it through the snow, that’s for sure. Does this snowy landscape mean Fimbulwinter has arrived?

Kratos raises his shield to bring the pain to a group of enemies.

Atreus seems to be a couple years older here, but he still hasn’t learned much about that whole “Loki” thing.

Atreus is eager to uncover his mother’s secrets, even if it means war. Kratos isn’t so sure.

Kratos and Atreus track down Tyr, the presumed-dead Norse god of war mentioned frequently in the previous game.

This mysterious girl is one of the last living giants, and will likely play a pivotal role in the Ragnarok plot.

God of War Ragnarok will come to PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles sometime in 2022.
