The Game Awards, which is basically gaming’s equivalent of the Oscars, has gotten some flack for how its presenters dress. People are apparently tired of the tech CEO t-shirt and blazer combo.

Kotaku started some discourse about Game Awards fashion, enough that some people stepped up their game this year! Some of them would’ve been dressed to the 10s anyway, but still.

Here are 6 of the most iconic outfits seen on stage at the 2022 Game Awards.

Christopher Judge

Christopher Judge won the award for Best Performance in God of War Ragnarok. He should also win award for the best dressed man of the night.

It might be a graphic tee and blazer combo, but the gold blazer and matching pants with the kicks puts it miles higher than the average.

It’s actually his second time being nominated for the award and wearing an iconic outfit during the award ceremony. He’s not just a fashion icon of the night — he’s a consistent one!

Valkyrae

Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter is known for her fashion sense, even outside of the Game Awards. Just her most recent pictures on her Instagram cover a variety of styles from simple to sexy.

Her Game Awards outfit, a strapless dress with thick black and white vertical lines, embodies a woman who isn’t afraid to stand out. Her friend Fuslie isn’t a slouch either!

Fuslie wore a form-fitting red dress with one-shoulder strap and trailing tail. Sure, the fiery color stands out, but so does the asymmetrical design!

Sydnee Goodman

I’m personally not a fan of the shaggy magenta carpet look, but at least Sydnee started off the night with an outfit that had personality instead of a bland t-shirt and slacks.

In case you don’t know her, Sydnee used to be a part of IGN’s The Daily Fix before going freelance. Also, her Instagram has plenty of other outfits that look pretty darn good.

Aurora

Aurora, a Norweigan singer-songwriter, presented a trailer for open-world social indie game Sky: Children of the Light with thatgamecompany’s Jenova Chen. She’s not a part of the industry, but she came to promote her virtual concert.

Her genie-like outfit caught the attention of a couple watchers. The cropped long sleeve top and matching skirt with the ruffled accents and gold medallion belt definitely lit up the stage.

Note that, while these are all onstage outfits, other attendees also showed up in their trendiest threads. Hopefully next year will be even more over-the-top!
