Look: Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser is Disney’s high-end cosplay hotel

How much would you pay for two nights in a galaxy far, far away?

Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge park already lets visitors briefly step into the Star Wars universe, and there’s soon to be a new way to take that intergalactic roleplay even further — if you have the credits to cover it.

Disney has spilled the beans on Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, its super high-end resort option for Star Wars mega fans, along with new concept art.

In practical terms, the Galactic Starcruiser is a hotel fancied up to look like a space-faring cruise liner called the Halcyon. A stay includes themed meals and interactive performances, along with your room.

Speaking of rooms, guests can choose to stay in a Standard Cabin, a Galaxy Class Suite, or splash out on the two-bedroom Grand Captain’s Suite.

Along with their starship décor, rooms have screens showing a view of the cosmos in lieu of windows to boring old Earth.

The rest of the “ship” has the same attention to detail, with costumed characters, Star Wars-inspired decoration, and unnervingly colored space food.

Visiting space cadets can undergo lightsaber training, take in a game of holo-sabacc, and even get embroiled in “missions” with cast members, just like at the Galaxy’s Edge park.

A visit to Galaxy’s Edge (a “planet excursion to Batuu” in Disney-speak) is also included with a stay on the Halcyon.

According to Disney, interactions with cast members at Galaxy’s Edge can even spill over into events back on the Starcruiser.

Unlike at Galaxy’s Edge, visitors are encouraged to cosplay during their stay on the Halcyon, making the whole thing that much more immersive.

So what’s the catch?

Well, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser seems to be designed with Canto Bight high-rollers in mind.

A two-night stay (the only option) in the lowest-priced Standard Cabin will run you $4,809 for two people, up to $5,999 for four.

That makes a stay on Halcyon about as likely as an actual trip to space for most of us.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is set to take on its first passengers starting in spring 2022, so you’d better start saving now if you’re still interested.

We hear there’s good money to be made in the spice trade if you’re short a few credits.
