8. Monsters vs. Aliens

The animation may look dated, but Monsters vs. Aliens is a funny homage to monster B-movies. The film is a solid entry in the otherwise uninspired field of sci-fi kid’s movies.

7. Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity spawned a long, hit-or-miss franchise, but the original’s inventive documentary style makes it a ghost story with a technological twist that’s worth revisiting.

6. Interview with the Vampire

An adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel, Interview with the Vampire transformed undead bloodsuckers from schlocky horror villains to sympathetic antiheroes.

5. Superman Returns

Superman Returns is a sequel to the first two Christopher Reeves-led Superman movies, with Brandon Routh in the title role. It’s a much more sedate superhero movie than we’re used to today, and its planned sequel never materialized.

4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Whether you’re watching with kids or just indulging your own nostalgia, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is as fun as it is goofy (which is to say, very). Both sequels and the Michael Bay produced reboot also return today.

3. The Lost Boys

The Lost Boys is a moody and extremely ‘80s movie about vampire bikers. If you haven’t seen it, you might still recognize one scene from being parodied in What We Do in the Shadows. “I didn’t realize you enjoyed eating worms!”

2. Terminator 2: Judgment Day

He said he’d be back. This sci-fi classic features a friendlier robot assassin, some of the most memorable movie moments ever, and Linda Hamilton stealing every scene she’s in. Terminator 3 and Salvation are also back on Netflix.

1. Gremlins

One of the best Christmas movies ever just missed the holiday season, but there’s never a bad time to rewatch this fable about the importance of pet feeding schedules.
