“Just because something works doesn’t mean it can’t be improved.”
With Marvel’s Phase 4 ramping up, Inverse asked our readers (that’s you!) which upcoming Marvel shows and movies they’re most excited for.
Turns out, fans are most hyped for Marvel’s movies, especially ones that involve multiverse-hopping shenanigans.
Projects that involved fan-favorite characters also did better than ones introducing new heroes, like Shang-Chi and Ironheart. But enough with the overview...
The Marvels is the best of both worlds — uniting proven superheroes Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau with newcomer Ms. Marvel. By the time it’s out, Ms. Marvel will have a show of her own, so expect the hype to grow even louder by then.
What If...? just started airing August 11, so it could pick up more steam. The show puts a new twist on old characters, making it great for Marvel diehards and newcomers alike. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s gorgeous.
Fantastic Four is the biggest mystery in the top 10 (so much so that we had to use a still from the best F4 movie to date). Either folks are just eager to see the super team finally done right, or the suspense itself is getting viewers excited.
Marvel’s Eternals is a huge risk, bringing together a cast of A-list actors to play characters most moviegoers have never heard of. It looks like one of the strangest and prettiest Marvel movies to date. No wonder fans are excited.
After the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, Marvel chose not to recast T’Challa. Wakanda Forever will reportedly give Shuri more screentime instead, and fans are clearly looking forward to seeing Leticia Wright take center stage.
All we really know about Quantumania is that it will explore the Quantum Realm and feature new Marvel villain Kang the Conqueror. Frankly, that’s enough reason to be excited, especially with the great Jonathan Majors playing Kang.
Thor: Love and Thunder will pass the baton — or hammer — to Jane Foster, who takes on the mantle of Thor. With Taika Waititi at the helm, this looks like the Thor film to finally give Natalie Portman her due.
Word on the street is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will shake up the MCU in a major way. Defeated big bads could return, old favorites could disappear, and James Gunn could pull something even weirder than we expect.
Marvel movies have gone through a lot of Spider-Men over the years, but Tom Holland has filled the role like no one else. No Way Home could actually bring the ex-Spideys back, along with a murderers’ row of other rumored characters.
Multiverse of Madness came out on top in our poll, which may seem a bit... strange. After all, the movie is still shrouded in secrecy, but events in What If...? set the Doctor Strange sequel up to be a pivotal moment in the MCU’s Phase 4.
