From Jordan Peele, J.J. Abrams and Misha Green, Lovecraft Country mixes racism with supernatural horror.
The series stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Birds of Prey) as Letitia Dandridge and Jonathan Majors (The Last Black Man in San Francisco) as Atticus Black.
The cast also includes Michael K. Williams (The Wire) as Atticus' father Montrose Freeman, and Courtney B. Vance as his uncle George Black.
Based on the novel by Matt Ruff, Lovecraft Country tells the story of a man seeking out his mysterious father on a road trip across the Jim Crow south.
The story reinterprets H.P Lovecraft's mind-bending horror into a symbol of racism and white supremacy.
Which is ironic since Lovecraft himself was a horrible racist.
Based on its trailer, Lovecraft Country will be a big-budget spectacle.
But it will also address the horrors of Jim Crow racism in 1950s America.
And with Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams involved, you can expect some trippy sci-fi too.
