6. The Rite (2011)

March 31

The Rite doesn’t tread much new ground for exorcism movies, but its creepy atmosphere and Anthony Hopkins’ great lead performance make it worth a look.

5. The Bourne Legacy

March 31

The Bourne Legacy wasn’t quite as successful as the original Bourne trilogy, but it’s still a spy thriller worth watching with a much different leading man played by Jeremy Renner.

Universal Pictures
4. Firestarter (1984)

March 31

This Stephen King adaptation is soon to be remade by Blumhouse. The 1984 original stars Drew Barrymore as a child with the ability to control fire and who is being targeted by a mysterious government agency.

3. The Running Man

March 31

As a satire of sensationalistic TV, The Running Man falls a little short, but as an action movie, it hits the mark. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a man sentenced to death by game show after being framed for a massacre.

2. The Evil Dead & Evil Dead 2

March 31

The first two Evil Dead movies leave HBO Max this month. Beware the original is scary and grotesque — if you’re looking for quips and chainsaw hands, start with Evil Dead 2.

Renaissance Pictures
1. Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure & Bogus Journey

March 31

The funniest sci-fi series ever wastes no time explaining its time travel mechanics, so it has more time for excellent gags.
