5. Bleach: The Substitute

Anime fans have a lot of binge-watching to do if they haven’t seen Bleach yet. The Substitute is the anime show’s first season, introducing viewers to Ichigo Kurosaki and the start of his journey as a Soul Reaper.

4. Bleach: The Entry

The Entry is Bleach’s second story arc, where Ichigo and his allies fight their way to the Soul Society to rescue fellow Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki. It’s not Bleach’s best season, but it sets the stage for a great arc to come.

3. Bleach: The Rescue

Ichigo and his crew finally attempt their rescue of Rukia in The Rescue, which is generally considered one of the best arcs in the whole series. Now you’re caught up: the next two seasons of Bleach are staying on Netflix for now.

2. Cloud Atlas

Cloud Atlas is one of the most divisive entries in the Wachowskis’ filmography, thanks to its sprawling metaphysical story and thematic but obviously problematic use of makeup to swap actors’ races. If nothing else, it’s at least an incredibly daring movie.

1. Shutter Island

Shutter Island isn’t traditional sci-fi by any means, but its conspiracy-laden plot and surreal images will keep genre fans engaged. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as a U.S. Marshal investigating a disappearance at a mysterious psychiatric facility, but there’s a lot going on beneath the surface.
