A total of six Resident Evil movies are coming to HBO Max — all the live-action movies except The Final Chapter, plus the animated Resident Evil: Damnation. The series is famously lousy, making this a great marathon for so-bad-it’s-good fans with lots of time to kill.

Also coming to Netflix this month, Starship Troopers is must-watch sci-fi. It’s a bloody, satirical war movie about a group of scrappy young fascists joining a war to save humanity — or so they’ve been led to believe by their totalitarian government.

Blade II is something of a big-budget B-movie. It doesn’t spend much time on lofty concepts like character development or a coherent plot, but it’s great fun if you’re in the mood for some stylish vampire-slaying action.

Sure, it’s not really sci-fi, but the Fast and Furious crew are basically superheroes at this point, so it fits. F9, the latest movie in the long-running franchise is more over-the-top than ever, fully owning what makes it so fun to watch.

Teen Titans Go! sends the junior Justice League firmly into comedy, with a cartoony art style and more lighthearted adventures than other incarnations of the team. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s tons of fun if it clicks for you.

One of 2021’s best movies is back. Denis Villeneuve’s Dune is the book’s best adaptation yet — though that’s faint praise considering the other options. Dune leaves a lot left open at the end, but it’s a great first step into Arrakis.

Taking place between the two Blade Runner movies, Black Lotus is an animated side-story about a woman with amnesia tracking down the truth about her identity in 2032 Los Angeles.
