Gwen and Miles meet a surprising adversary in Across the Spider-Verse.

This year’s Annecy International Animation Festival kicked off June 13, bringing spectacular news about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on day one.

Sony already revealed that George Stacy (Gwen Stacy’s dad) and The Vulture will appear in Across the Spider-Verse, and now we know who’s playing them.

George Stacy will be voiced by Shea Whigham, who you might recognize as Roger Dooley from Agent Carter.

The Vulture’s voice should sound even more familiar. Jorma Taccone, who played Green Goblin in the first Spider-Verse, returns to voice a younger version of the classic Spider-Man villain.

Annecy attendees saw Stacy and the Vulture in a clip that also featured previously announced characters Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac), Spider-Woman (Issa Rae), and Miles’ guidance counselor (Rachel Dratch).

Jason Schwartzman (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) lends his voice to the villain The Spot.

If the Spot doesn't sound familiar, that's not too surprising. After first appearing in the '80s, the Spot became a joke among Spider-Man villains for being cowardly.
A more imposing Spot will appear in the multiverse-hopping Across the Spider-Verse. His power to create portals and send himself or others through them could make him a good match for Miles and Gwen.
