The Pokémon GO 2018 Summer Tour is nearly wrapped up with the conclusion of Pokémon GO Fest 2018 in Chicago. Players who participated in the event worldwide have successfully completed all of their respective regional challenges and unlocked Zapdos Day this weekend, but they’ll also be able to reap some tangential benefits thanks to their hard work.

When players participated in Pokémon GO Fest 2018, the biggest thing on their minds was trying to catch the Shiny versions of Plusle and Minun, and the Alolan debuts of Geodude and Diglett. They were also busy completing research tasks for a chance to snag Zapdos this weekend, but by finishing the second global research challenge they unlocked some extra perks to help them prepare for Zapdos Day and Safari Zone Yokosuka.

From July 16 to July 23, all players will receive double candies when catching and hatching Pokémon, an extra rare candy during raids, and half the normal distance for hatching eggs. So what can you do with these new buffs?

Well, for one thing, you can use them to build a strong team for Zapdos Day. If you haven’t already, this is your chance to scramble together a squad to take down the legendary bird. Use the bonuses to help you add Golem, Jynx, Rayquaza, Tyranitar, or Mewtwo to your team.

You can use the halved egg distance towards this end as well. Keep in mind that any eggs you added to the incubator before the bonus reward window will not benefit from the buff. That means any eggs that were incubated before July 16 will still hatch at the normal walking distance.

If you’re interested in leveraging the bonuses for something further down the line, you can also invest this time in catching Pokémon that have a Gen 4 evolution. It’s all up to you!
